Bicycle
vs. Classic Pickup
It was a warm
June night and our client had returned from a cruise in his
classic pickup. Instead
of returning his car to the storage building where it’s usually
kept, he decided to park it in his home garage. Looking back, that
wasn't the safest place. As he was heading into the house, he walked
by a bicycle hanging on the wall and accidentally bumped it. The
bike fell off the wall and the tires bounced on the concrete floor,
propelling it into the side of the pickup causing some dings and
scratches.
Claims of this
variety are actually very common. Items stored in garages or storage
buildings pose a serious danger to vehicles. Rakes, shovels, lawn
furniture, bicycles and anything else hanging on the walls or
leaning against them can be a threat. Tools, chemicals and lumber
can easily fall from racks and shelves and are frequent causes of
car damage.
Please maintain
a “clear” space of at
least 3 to 5 feet around each car and not to store items above a
vehicle.
